SHOW US THE RECEIPTS: Rhode Island’s Top 10 Demands
Every election season, Rhode Islanders get the same routine: polished ads, big promises, and photo‑ops with everyday people who are barely hanging on. Meanwhile, the receipts keep piling up electric bills, rent and mortgage payments, car taxes, grocery trips, and school fees that never seem to go down. The political class tells us “things are moving in the right direction.” Our bank accounts say otherwise.
This time, we’re not interested in buzzwords and excuses. We want proof. We want to see exactly what our elected officials have delivered for the money and trust we’ve already given them. If they want four more years, they should have the receipts to back it up: lower costs, safer communities, stronger schools, better roads and transit, and real respect for taxpayers.
That’s why I’m launching “SHOW US THE RECEIPTS: Rhode Island’s Top 10 Demands.” Over the next ten days, we’ll count down from #10 to #1 the basic standards every politician should have to meet if they expect our vote. These aren’t partisan talking points; they’re common‑sense expectations from Rhode Islanders who are tired of paying more and getting less.
Tomorrow we start with Demand #10. Read it, share it, and ask one simple question about every candidate who shows up asking for your support: can they actually meet these demands or are they just asking you to trust them one more time without showing you the receipts?
